Q3 2026 13F: What Buffett, Burry and Ackman Bought and Sold
Third-quarter 2026 13F filings are due by Nov 16, 2026 (45 days after September 30). until each one files, its section shows the previous quarter and updates by itself the day the filing arrives.
A 13F is the quarterly list of U.S. stocks an investment manager with more than $100 million holds at the end of the quarter. It arrives up to 45 days late and leaves out short positions, most foreign shares and cash, so it is a record of what a fund owned, not a live view. Three filings get more attention than almost any others each season.

How to read these changes
"Added" and "Trimmed" compare share counts with the previous quarter, adjusted for stock splits; dollar amounts use the values in the filing. A sale may have happened any time in the quarter, at prices we cannot see. Funds can also ask the SEC to keep a new position confidential for a while, so a filing can be amended later with stakes that were left out. Our guides how to read a 13F and what a 13F can't tell you go deeper.
Examples
Berkshire Hathaway's filings for 2024 showed it selling a large part of its Apple stake over several quarters, a change readers could only see after each quarter ended. Michael Burry's Scion has drawn attention for listing put options, which show up in a 13F as positions even though they are bets on a fall. Pershing Square holds only a handful of stocks, so each change moves a large share of the fund.

About this page
WallStPal explains public SEC filings and congressional stock trade reports in plain English. Nothing is for sale; the site is free and supported by ads.
How to read it
- Form 4
- The form a company insider (officer, director or owner of more than 10%) must file with the SEC within two business days of buying or selling the company's shares.
- 13F
- A quarterly list of U.S. stocks held by an investment manager with more than $100 million, filed within 45 days after each quarter ends.
- STOCK Act
- A 2012 law that requires members of Congress to report stock trades by themselves, a spouse or a dependent child within 45 days.
A real example
In January 2016, when bank stocks were falling, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon bought 500,000 JPMorgan shares with his own money, worth about $26 million. His Form 4 made the purchase public within days, and investors read it as a strong sign of confidence.
